About Me
The Formative Years
How does a child raised on a nonsugar diet who was only allowed to play with educational toys grow up to be an interactive designer? Well, apparently my energy wasn't focused on learning how to dress properly. In my technology-starved state, creativity was the alternative to my chemistry set.

Some people ask me why I didn't end up being an architect. My response is that, in many ways, I did.
Interactive design is very similar to architecture. Designing and building a website involves an integration of design and technology applied to human interaction that few other design or technology careers require. I build in pixels and code instead of concrete and steel beams.
I am fascinated with well-crafted websites and good typography. My emphasis has been on web standards and accessibility because I believe that it is all too easy to assume that the web looks the same to everyone as it does from your desktop.
I am currently living and working as a freelance designer/programmer along the beautiful Colorado Front Range in Longmont. My wife, Jenn, is completing her graduate degree in journalism (thanks for the copy editing, honey) from the University of Missouri.
