Interactive Work

Scoop Custard Shoppe
Project Date 08.2004
Ingredients
ASP / Access, CMS, CSS, XHTMLDescription
There's no special technical challenge in building a website for a Columbia, Missouri frozen custard shop, but this site was fun to design and build. Scoop Custard has a very obvious surfing/beach theme. There are surfboards on the walls and the main dessert, the frozen custard, is even called the "Wave".
Photography from the store inspired this surf-themed design. The surfboard in the middle of the menu and the pelican at the bottom of the page were both clipped right out of photography of the store. It was also a great opportunity to use the Courier New font for a retro look.
My right brain rarely makes it easy on my left brain when it comes to designing sites that are simple to assemble. This small site was no exception. With a few CSS tricks and a few learned lessons, I was able to achieve a complete separation of content from presentation with XHTML and CSS.
* Agency Work: This project was produced while working as Interactive Director at an agency in Mid-Missouri. All agency work that I display, unless noted, was executed by me from concept to design and code.
