Description

Walt's Bike Shop and Missouri Wilderness in Columbia, Missouri were nearing the end of a major store rennovation. Their website was also down and they were in desperate need of website work.

Walt's was looking for a website that would be easy to update and could feature their events, staff and products. Unlike many retailers, they were not interested in getting into e-commerce.

I decided that the key to Walt's success online would be to help build their image as mid-Missouri's premier outdoor and bike shop as well as create an online community around their staff.

To achieve these goals, I built a robust content management system that allows Walt's managers almost total control over the content of the site. They have the ability to update events, products, news and regional places to go outside. Additionally, the staff can log in to personal accounts where they can write log entries about their adventures. If they want, they can also tie their log to a product or place to create a review.

The home page is a living piece of work with 100% of the content being controllable from the content management system. A good portion of the success of this site can be attributed to the enthusiasm of the staff.
